KORG
From 2004 to 2017, Tadahiko Sakamaki worked at KORG in product design and product planning. Beginning as a product designer, he expanded his practice from shaping instruments to defining the experiences they could offer.
Projects included KAOSSILATOR and littleBits Synth Kit, opening sound-making to people with different levels of musical experience. The littleBits collaboration enabled users to assemble instruments from connected modules.
His product planning and product design credits include ZERO8, nanoKEY2 / nanoPAD2 / nanoKONTROL2, and SQ-1. In an interview about KAOSSILATOR, he describes focusing on what people enjoy about composing and performing. The littleBits Synth Kit collaboration began with his own approach to littleBits, extending this work into instruments that users assemble themselves.
In his final years at KORG, Sakamaki oversaw product planning and design. He moved to Dentsu in 2017 after working across instrument planning, development collaboration and design management.
