kaossilator

A battery-powered synthesizer played with a touchpad instead of a keyboard. Sakamaki handled product planning for the original KAOSSILATOR.

Its 100 sounds and 31 scales support playing with one finger: horizontal movement controls pitch and vertical movement changes the sound. Key and scale settings determine the notes available across the pad.

A gate arpeggiator adds rhythmic patterns. Loop recording captures phrases of up to eight beats, allowing successive layers of melody, bass and drums to build into a repeating musical sketch.
