Sakamaki participated in the development of monologue, a 25-key monophonic analogue synthesizer with patch memory, sequencing and microtuning.

Two oscillators, a filter and a drive circuit shape bass and lead sounds. Its 16-step sequencer records notes and control movements, and the compact instrument can run on batteries.

Aphex Twin advised on microtuning and contributed tunings, sounds and sequences. In a signed column, Sakamaki described encounters with the artist’s approach to sound during the product’s development.
