minilogue

A 37-key, four-voice analogue synthesizer combining hands-on sound shaping, patch storage and a 16-step sequencer. Sakamaki handled product planning for minilogue.

Its 200 program memories store sounds, while selectable voice modes organise the four voices for chords, unison and other playing styles. The sequencer records both notes and changes made with the controls.

An oscilloscope on the OLED screen makes the waveform visible as the sound changes, connecting the physical controls with an immediate view of the signal.

In a developer interview, Sakamaki described making analogue sound accessible and fitting the instrument alongside a laptop as guiding considerations.
