In the fourth instalment, published on 2 September 2014, Sakamaki recounts contacting littleBits through its public enquiry form and proposing a jointly developed synthesizer. Paul Rothman replied the following day and arranged a meeting with founder Ayah Bdeir.
The visit revealed a workspace equipped for making, with 3D printers, a laser cutter and materials for projects. Although Sakamaki recalls struggling with his presentation, the proposal connected with an ambition Rothman already held: to build a synthesizer using littleBits. Rothman would become a key counterpart in the collaboration.
The article records first contact on 20 December 2012, the visit on 13 January 2013 and the product release on 17 December 2013. Sakamaki attributes the roughly one-year development journey in part to prototyping, while emphasising the shared interests that made the partnership possible.
